Dr. Michael J. Klein is currently Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York.  He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, did his pathology residency at New York University Medical Center, with a fellowship in orthopedic pathology at NYU and at Columbia University.  He was Associate Director of Laboratories at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York before becoming a Professor of Pathology and Orthopaedics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  He has numerous awards for teaching merit from Mount Sinai and has received awards from the Radiological Society of North America, the International Skeletal Society and others.  His publications are in excess of 160, and he has been published in numerous lay magazines such as Discover, Omni, Geo and others.  His photography has graced 8 magazine covers, and he has won or placed in 18 photographic competitions.  Dr. Klein has written 13 book chapters, as well as three books, including the AFIP Fascicle on Non-neoplastic Disorders of Bone and Joints (1st Series).
